Farm outings and pick-your-own near Wilmington
Farm visits are a whole-family win — picking, animals, a wagon ride, and usually a doughnut at the end. Not every farm here has picking, and an open market doesn't mean picking or hayrides are running, so check the season before you go. Each links to its full place guide.
1. Highland Orchards Farm Market
Wilmington
A year-round farm market and bakery on Foulk Road — the low-effort farm stop. No pick-your-own here (that's the separate Highland Orchards in West Chester), and it's closed Sundays.
2. Coverdale Farm Preserve
Greenville
A Delaware Nature Society working farm — animals, fields, and trails, free to visit. More educational than commercial. Public visits run Friday–Sunday, April through November.
3. Ramsey's Farm
Wilmington
A working family farm in north Wilmington — smaller and more authentic than the big operations, and strongest in the fall.
4. Milburn Orchards
Elkton
A polished farm just over the Maryland line — summer u-pick, a farm market, and the paid BIG BackYard in fall. No apple picking in 2026 after a spring freeze.
5. Linvilla Orchards
Media
The big one — animals, a farm market, and ticketed hayrides and picking in season in Media, PA. Plan it as a day out; the Pumpkinland fall program ends in early November.

Where can we pick our own near Wilmington?
Ramsey's, in north Wilmington, has seasonal pick-your-own. Highland Orchards' Foulk Road market has no picking — its pick-your-own farm is in West Chester, PA. Check what's in season on each farm's page before you go.
When is farm season?
Most run spring through fall, peaking in fall for pumpkins and hayrides; picking follows each crop and often ends before the market closes. Coverdale's public visits end in November, and a few markets stay open year-round — check each place's page for current hours and what's ripe.
