What to Expect

Indian Orchards is a family farm near Media, farmed by the same family since 1913. In fall it runs pick-your-own apples and pumpkins, with a hayride on September and October weekends. It's lower-key than the big fall festivals: you come to pick, not for rides and slides.

In a year when a late frost took most of the region's apples, it's one of the few nearby farms posting apples as open. Check its status board the day you go.

Who It's Best For

Our take: an easy pick-your-own outing for any age. Toddlers can ride the weekend hayride and carry a small pumpkin; older kids can pick raspberries.
