The Quick Version
- • Day to day, the J is a membership center. You can visit as a member's guest ($10 ages 2–11, $15 ages 12+), but a member has to come with you.
- • Non-members can still sign up for plenty: swim lessons from 6 months, dance, Tiny Tigers karate (ages 4–6), sports clinics and School's Out days, usually at a higher non-member price.
- • The indoor pool runs year-round. The summer outdoor pool has a wading area, a two-story spiral slide and a separate toddler pool, and a summer-only membership covers it.
- • The J welcomes families of every faith and background. Kids under 12 stay with a parent on campus unless their J program says otherwise.

What to Expect
The J is a nonprofit membership community center on a 32-acre campus in North Wilmington, with indoor and outdoor pools, a gym, a preschool, camp and a full calendar of Jewish holiday celebrations and family events. Most of what happens here is for members, so the useful question for everyone else is which door to come in by.
The easiest is a class. Non-members can book swim lessons (a 30-minute private lesson is $65, or $50 for members), weekly dance classes, Tiny Tigers karate for 4–6-year-olds, and youth sports clinics in basketball, baseball and soccer. On days school is closed, School's Out runs 8 AM–6 PM for grades K–5 ($84 a day for non-members, $68 for members). Bring a lunch, swimsuit and towel.
The second way in is the events calendar. Some events say outright that non-members are welcome, like the free Group Ex open house; for others, read the listing before you go. And if you have a friend who's a member, a guest visit is the simplest way to try the pool.
Who It's Best For
Learn-to-Swim starts at 6 months, Tiny Tigers karate is ages 4–6, sports clinics and School's Out days are for grades K–5 or K–6. Pick the program first; the age follows.

Under
The J doesn't list a guest fee for under-2s
Guests must come with a member, and every guest and visitor signs a waiver (fees as of May 24, 2025). Classes, camps and events are booked and priced separately.
Membership tip: Full memberships need a one-year commitment. If it's really the outdoor pool you're after, the summer membership covers the whole facility, outdoor pool included, from Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend.
Getting There
Parking
The lots have security gates that open with a membership card.
Entrance
Members scan in; visitors use the intercom at the door. If you're there for a class or event, have the name handy.
Parent Logistics
The J doesn't post anything about strollers; the indoor pool itself has barrier-free access and a pool lift.
The indoor pool area has an accessible restroom, shower and changing space; the outdoor pool deck has changing rooms.
The J doesn't say.
Not described for the outdoor pool deck; pack sunscreen for summer swims.
Food & Snacks
A snack bar on the outdoor pool deck in summer. J events offer labeled kosher options.
Snack strategy: The J asks members and guests to keep food on campus kosher-style, so no pork or shellfish in the snack bag. Potluck events like the Eagles watch parties ask the same.
Pro Tips
- ✓ Not potty-trained? The pool requires a swim diaper with snug rubber or vinyl pants over it and a swimsuit on top. Regular diapers aren't allowed.
- ✓ The indoor pool closes during thunderstorms, so it isn't a guaranteed rainy-day plan.
- ✓ Comparing costs? Most programs list member and non-member prices side by side, which makes it easy to see whether a membership would pay for itself.
When to Go
Best Time to Visit
Pools, fitness and indoor recreation: Monday–Thursday 6 AM–9:30 PM, Friday 6 AM–6 PM, weekends 8 AM–6 PM (the indoor pool closes 15 minutes earlier). The main building keeps shorter hours: Monday–Thursday 8 AM–7 PM, Friday 8 AM–6 PM, closed Saturday, Sunday by appointment. The J posts a monthly indoor pool schedule with open-swim times.
Seasonal Notes
The outdoor pool runs Memorial Day through Labor Day and is closed for the season now. Summer 2027 memberships open in January, and Camp JCC registration for summer 2027 opens January 4.
