What to Expect

Highland Orchards is a family orchard outside West Chester, and a different farm from the Highland Orchards market in north Wilmington. In fall you can pick your own apples and pumpkins for a $3 field-access fee, then ride a hayride out to a 5-acre corn maze with apple cannons on weekends. The market and bakery are known for cider donuts.

A late spring frost cut deeply into the region's 2026 apple crop, so check the farm's Facebook for what's pickable before promising apples.

Who It's Best For

Our take: toddlers can ride the hayride and carry a small pumpkin; preschoolers and up can pick apples; school-age kids get the most out of the corn maze and apple cannons (the maze takes about an hour).

Highlights

Pick-your-own apples and pumpkins

$3 field access for ages 3 and up. Apples mid-July through October, pumpkins mid-September through October, per the farm; dates are approximate.

Corn maze and apple cannons

A 5-acre maze reached by a scenic hayride through the orchard; about an hour to walk. Weekends, last entry 3 PM.

Food & Snacks

The farm market and bakery sell apple cider donuts and apple and pumpkin pies (market Tuesday–Friday 9 AM–6 PM, weekends 9 AM–5 PM, closed Monday). The Levante beer garden runs Saturdays and Sundays with food trucks in season.

Snack strategy: Save room for a cider donut from the bakery.

Pro Tips

  • ✓ Check the farm's Facebook for what's ripe; 2026 apple picking is frost-limited across the region.
  • ✓ Don't confuse it with the Highland Orchards farm market in Wilmington; this is the West Chester orchard.
  • ✓ Bring cash or a card for the $3 field-access fee per person.

When to Go

Best Time to Visit

Weekday mornings for picking without crowds. Weekends for the corn maze and apple cannons (last maze entry 3 PM). The farm is closed Mondays.

Seasonal Notes

The farm lists apples mid-July through October and pumpkins mid-September through October, and says all dates are approximate. Its corn maze page still shows 2025 dates (weekends September 20–November 2, 2025), so confirm the 2026 schedule. Pick-your-own hours may change with the weather; the farm posts updates on Facebook.
