Tiny Weekends

Corn mazes & hayrides near Wilmington

A fall afternoon in a corn maze is a Delaware family ritual. These are the mazes and hayrides near Wilmington, closest first — from the working farm in north Wilmington and the state-park wagon rides to the bigger orchards across the state lines — with the small-kid mazes and gentle rides flagged. Everything depends on the weather and the farm's calendar, so check the farm's page before you load the car.

1. Ramsey's Farm

Wilmington

Best for All ages

A corn maze without leaving Wilmington. The big maze covers more than 10 acres, and the Spookley Trail is a maze designed for younger kids; a hayride rides along on the same wristband. On fall Friday and Saturday nights through Nov 14 the farm adds bonfire nights with a flashlight maze — a campfire evening, not a haunted one. Halloween night is private bookings only.

The state park runs public fall wagon rides through the meadows, ending at a campfire with marshmallows. The park says there's no hay on the wagons. Tickets are $10; register online at least a day ahead (vehicle entry fee is separate).

3. Coverdale Farm Preserve

Greenville

Best for Birthdays & groups

Outside special days like Halloween at the Farm (Sat, Oct 24, with a hayride), Coverdale's wagon rides are private bookings across the preserve with your own campfire at the end, a flat fee per ride rather than per person. Our pick for a birthday or a few families who'd rather skip the festival crowds.

Best for All ages

The state lists Lums Pond among its parks running fall wagon rides through October, so the window is short. Calm, with none of the farm-festival bustle. Check the state parks program calendar for any remaining dates before you go.

The full fall day in Media, PA. Pumpkinland is free to walk; the 2-acre corn maze and the straw bale maze are $7 each online ($10 walk-up), and we'd start little ones in the straw maze. The evening Hayride to the Witch's House is made for young kids — Linvilla says plainly it's not haunted. It runs through Oct 30; online tickets are $13 for ages 5+ and $10 for ages 1–4.

A relaxed family farm in Middletown with u-pick pumpkins, a field hayride and a soybean maze designed for children — a good first maze if yours are small. Activities run on fall weekends.

9. Fifer Orchards

Camden Wyoming

Best for All ages

Worth it only for a full farm day, about an hour south near Camden-Wyoming; Fall Fest runs through Nov 14. The themed corn maze sits inside a bigger Fall Fest with jumping pillows, slides and a tractor train. It's closed Sundays, so plan it for a Saturday or a day off school.

Questions parents ask

Are there corn mazes for toddlers near Wilmington?

Yes, a few are built for small kids. Ramsey's Farm in north Wilmington has the Spookley Trail, a maze designed for younger kids, alongside its 10-acre corn maze. Filasky's in Middletown has a soybean maze designed for children. At Linvilla in Media, PA, we'd try the straw bale maze before the 2-acre corn maze.

Which hayrides aren't scary?

None of the hayrides on this list are billed as haunted. For little kids, Linvilla's evening Hayride to the Witch's House is built for them, and Linvilla says outright it's not a haunted hayride: the witch tells stories and jokes and hands out treats. The daytime rides at Ramsey's, Milburn and Filasky's are scenic trips around the farm. Milburn's Thursday-night After Hours events are 21+ only.

Do I need tickets ahead of time?

For some of them. Linvilla sells timed tickets for its mazes and hayrides, and they cost less online. Milburn's festival admission is discounted online. Brandywine Creek State Park's wagon rides need online registration, which closes 24 hours before the ride.
